THE PARTY- A Hilarious Tragicomedy
John is about to lose his flat because of mortgage arrears, as he has lost his job, while grieving for his last girlfriend, who died in a car accident a year ago.
To cheer himself up, he decides to have one last party before he loses the flat. He invites his singing group, which he had joined earlier, to overcome his grief, using singing as therapy. He also thinks his chances with Lauren, a singer in the group, will improve, as he would like to get his social life back.
Unfortunately for him, things start to go wrong right from the start. Rod, an uninvited rough character, gate-crashes the party. Rod is on a mission to undermine John.
In the end, things work out well, and John is inspired to sort his life out with help from Liz, another singer in the group, and to save himself from losing his flat.
The musical has eleven original songs, with music composed by a well-known English composer, Clive Pollard and lyrics by Max Nowaz. The musical has six characters and has been fully workshopped with professional actors with musical theatre experience, and both the script and the songs work really well.
